Very unique and refreshing to taste a wine so different from most.
Listan Negro grape.
Peppery, stony, fruit coming out later.
High quality. Balanced. Medium finish.

Deteriorated quickly though, undrinkable after 3 days open.

Canary Island wine is growing on me and is very unique.
This is an orange wine with skin maceration, so there is an almost bronze/golden hue to it, but it is very clear and transparent.
Nose has some funk to it. Slight hint of mousiness, tropical fruit, sea breeze, and a slight herbal note.
Medium minus bodied, medium acidity, dry, some light tannins from the skin contact, and medium minus alcohol. Finish is medium minus.
Flavors are very mineral and tertiary forward. Volcanic soil, saline, dried nectarine, and tropical fruit.
I'd buy again and absolutely support this producer.

This is, in no way, an "easy-drinking" rose. It is not intended to be. It's made from vines over 100 years old, grown on volcanic soil - and this all shows. It badly needed cellar time, and is still on the young side. However, it has lost its "stench" of youth. Crunchy red cranberry, apple. Very rocky, and earthy, almost sulfury note. Palate brightly acidic, with red fruit dominating. White pepper, a bit herbal. Strong mineral structure underlies the fruit, and continues to dominate on long finish. This wine needs food - really, for a meal. It would be a disaster as a patio/poolside summer quaffer. But, with a few years of age, a nice hearty plate of food - wow. And best served at cool cellar temperate - it's just dead at 40F.

Orange, but fairly light, gentle tannin. Fair amount of p-cresol type character that gives it some funk, but it’s nice. Touch of jasmin character as well.

Interesting wine, and without more practice with Listan Negro (this is my 2nd) I'm having a hard time judging quality here. Mouthfeel, structure, overall nose all say this is a quality, well-made bottle, but there's something astringent in the palate that I find off-putting. Not sure if its the bottle or a varietal tendency.

Thin, astringent, like too-young Rioja. I was hoping for more volcanic sense from Canary Islands wine, but there’s little redeeming here. Put in cellar for 3-5 years more and hope for improvements.

Monthly Tasting Group: Spain (Rincon 38, Mpls, MN): Medium-dark red color. PNP, folowed a glass over an hour. Pretty solid, if fairly straightforward, red fruits, fairly herbal, some spice, medium light body. Simple, well done overall.

This one is acquiring more balance with bottle age. Still a hint of funk, but for our palate this is a nice flavor note that complements some dark fruit, smoke and salinity/minerals. We have one more bottle-open in a year or two?

Canary wine kicks ass! It's a bit on the greener, more herbaceous side but the acidity balances it out. Truly enjoyable with acidic preparation red meat, very aromatic as well and the body won't tire your palate.

Dark pink. Clear. Floral notes of Rose, citrus and herbal tones. There is a prominent acid base with less on the palate than on the nose. The finish is mostly the persistence of the acid. I can think of so many more Roses I would opt for over this one.

Medium hued, very dry, high acidity, light tannins, light bodied. Starts with barnyard funk. As it breathes, I get sour cherry and dried strawberry fruit. Then it develops a little tar and a steely finish. I had the tinto version previously and found the barnyard a bit over the top - as a rosado it is more balanced. It went well with grilled sausage, and I would try it with salmon.

This is an amazing bottle, full stop. One of the most compelling rose wines I have ever encountered. To the extent that there is a flaw, the nose suggests some Brett going on. Deep mineral, slightly barnyard nose, with plum and warm spice - nutmeg and cinnamon. Seawater. Palate balanced, with great lifting acidity, intense minerals going on long finish. still a bit tannic. Great fruit - plum again dominant.

Very unique wine, both on the nose and palate. Made from the unusual grape, Listan Negro. Intense and dark. Earthy, blackberry, black cherry, sage, charcoal, hay and some flavors I can't identify. Great value and a great change of pace.

I agree with the last note about this wine occupying the uncanny valley between red/rose. The wine was very pale light rose with a musty plumy nose. I didn’t get the smoke the others did. Once it opened up, the wine had light dried plumy fruit, bright acid long integrated flavors. I liked it. A hard wine to rate

Medium ruby color
WOW - intense aromas of barnyard/ sulfur - really reductive aromas which are quite offputting initially
After 24 hours, these aromas do really quiet down and the resulting wine is actually quite attractive
Medium plus aromas of red fruit with strong ashy/ iron notes and underlying smoked meat aromas
Medium palate of crisp red fruit and strong ash/ mineral background
Medium tannins and medium plus acidity
Alcohol is well balanced and finish is medium
I would highly recommend continued aging or a long decant on this wine!
